Briar West with painting

ABOUT BRIAR

Briar West is a fluid artist originally from Southern California. Her love of the ocean can be seen in her art. She sees the graceful honesty in imperfection and finds the beauty in chaos. Fluid art has reinforced what life has taught her: We’re all imperfectly perfect, and that’s a beautiful thing.

How she got started in art is quite unique. With a background in medical research, Briar’s creative start began unexpectedly, stemming from a place of self-care mixed with a good-sized dose of curiosity. With no real supplies in her home, Briar began experimenting with inks, using what other materials she had on hand: alcohol, bleach, vodka, and antifreeze. Now, that is all that’s familiar to her and continues to shop for art supplies at Home Depot and auto part stores. Known these days to use a leaf blower to quickly move the alcohol and ink across the canvas before it dries, her art continues to be the by-product of experimentation and fascination.

Briar specializes in customized large-scale art, but loves to create pieces of any size. Because her paintings are made using Yupo paper, her artwork can be made to order, big or small, right down to the square inch, and easily shipped anywhere .
