Nine Lives

“Nine Lives” lives up to its name. It went the distance with me - through every color and every shape. The hardest part was knowing when to let it rest. At one point, it was just a sea of black and grey shapes. It was then that I decided to run bleach across it, using a large tile from my garage. After allowing it to lay under the bleach for 10 hours, it turned this ethereal green and grey.

I am learning to be more gentle with myself - to not force anything in or out of my life. Letting this painting take on whatever color or shape it wanted felt really good. Life is short, but it’s also a string of many lives. The beauty comes in when we love ourselves where ever we are, because it will inevitably change.
